june
carlough abstract monotype and
acrylic
In recent years, June Carlough’s fluid painting and
monotype techniques have transformed her range from the purely
non-objective and abstract forms inspired by nature to a more
personal expression.
The artist’s most recent body
of work, “Water & Ice,” is an outlook on the
power of water, from marvels of underwater life to the spans
and peaks of glaciers. Carlough brings attention back to the
beauty of the natural world, where perhaps we will find space
for appreciating artistic solace and beauty as well as commentary
on the divide of nature and humanity. Carlough co-founded
the Spectrum Gallery in 1966.
