Freda Lee-McCann studied with the renowned Master of Chinese
Art, C.C. Wang, for over twenty years. Lee-McCann’s
works range from the traditional method to her latest explorations
fusing the traditional techniques with vivid colorwashes.
Traditional Chinese landscape paintings are primarily built
on brush strokes using black ink followed with light colorwashes
on rice paper. By introducing color brush marks instead of
ink, there is a stronger emotional expression, but the Chinese
painting tradition remains. Lee-McCann’s foresight into
the fusion of East and West is a remarkable compliment to
her talent.
